13th March 2017
Last night the Great British Pantomime Awards took place at the Theatre Café London. There is exceptional support from producers and a clear message was repeated throughout the evening that an industry which has previously gone under the radar is now getting its moment. Qdos, Evolution, Jordan Productions, UK Productions and PHA all had productions or performers who picked up awards. Independent producer Simon Fielding also collected with two awards for best Choreography and ‘Beechdean Award for the Best Pantomime (capacity under 750). The other Best Pantomime awards went to Dick Whittington, Evolution, Canterbury (750-1500 Capacity) and Dick Whittington, Qdos at the Birmingham Hippodrome (1500+) Capacity. Gary Hind who won the Musical Supervision award for Cinderella at the Palladium thanked the Great British Pantomime for acknowledging music and pantomime, which is too often overlooked.
